City of Shelton K9 Update
A Message from Chief Moody
We finally have our second dog finishing training and both will be on the road soon. Currently Lex is on patrol with handler Officer Porter, and he is doing wonderful. In 2020 he will go back to school for 5 weeks to earn his narcotic detection certification. Due to some personnel changes our second dog had to go back to training, and K9 Tango will be back in action in a couple months, he will be partnered with Officer Downs.
We were fortunate enough to have some great community partners and a special thanks to OCCU for their generous contributions. Both dogs have had vests donated through All K9’s Go To Heaven, and those are on order and we hope to have them soon. The non-profit Shelton Police K9 Foundation is looking forward to some other fund raising as we move forward in 2020.
We have our food donated through a corporate partnership so the fundraising will be to ensure they get the training and further certification they need to be dual purpose K9’s. This means they will do patrol work and narcotic detection.
This would not be possible without all of our community partners and citizens who have donated to the foundation
